Praying Mantis - Sanctuary

Praying Mantis - Sanctuary

\r\nOh yes it’s been thirty years plus, since the band was born. Oh, yes this band was born before I was born! How many people don’t know of them or -in the worst case- haven’t ever heard of them? A Maiden-related band – a glance at the group’s family tree is enough for someone to find the “spots in common”- which appeared during the whole NWOBHM thing (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, just in case you don’t know what that means…), after changing the line up again and again throughout they years, they still manage to produce a very decent piece of work.
\r\nThe more I listen to “Sanctuary” the more I like it, even though I was a bit skeptical in the beginning. Mike Freeland is their new singer- well, the fact that there’s another frontman is the line-up again shouldn’t be a big surprise – trademarks with his voice a very good album which covers AOR, melodic Hard Rock, Pop Metal even Glam Rock/Sleeze, however mostly it’s AOR-oriented. Nice keyboard parts, many-many melodies and catchy choruses and vocal lines in general, good, strong compositions, not just silly songs to sing to  your boyfriend/girlfriend or whomever else. Andy Reilly (Asia, The Cult, FM) is behind the production and the result is literally what we call “crystal clear”. Ok ,like a friend says, I don’t think that anyone out there expects Praying Mantis to play Progressive Metal. All in all, it’s a very good album. \r\n
