Revolution Renaissance - Age Of Aquarius

Revolution Renaissance - Age Of Aquarius

This is Timo Tolkki’s second effort to re-establish himself as the huge melodic power metal songwriter we all loved in the 90s. I personally don’t like the idea of Stratovarious without Timo. Above all it’s a moral issue. However I think that we all must forget the Stratovarious we loved. Instead we will hear elements of them, at the Revolution Renaissance albums and the new Stratovarious as well.
\r\nI wasn’t excited with Revolution Renaissance first album.  ‘’Age Of Aquarius’’ is better.
\r\nCatchy melodic metal at his best but again far away from Tolkie’s best. I know that he can do better.
\r\nGus Monsanto’s soaring vocals are great. Someone could be a little tired of them after multiple listens but he‘s good.
\r\nFor my disappointment the album doesn’t include any really speedy song. I need a ‘’Father Time’’ but the songs here are more dramatic and slow. "Into the Future" which closes the album its one the best moments. You can find some Folk metal elements in there. ‘’Sins of my Beloved’’, ‘’Ixions Wheel’’ and ‘’Ghost of Fallen Grace ‘’ are nice too.
\r\nThis is not a classic. It’s at the same level of some late Stratovarious albums but away from their best moments. You‘ll have a great time listening to it but you will always have a feeling that something’s missing. This album lacks one or two crowd pleaser songs. It fails also in the variety field. It’s a dark and slow melodic album with some intense symphonic elements. It brings to mind some of the atmosphere of early Stratovarius records and this will please Strato-fans. I need to hear Kotipelto’s answer to that.
\r\nFair enough but…
