Shinigami - Past mistakes
Shinigami - Past mistakes
\r\nDespite the small problem which occured, regarding the postage and the delivery of Shinigami’s debut cd, the band was kind enough to (re)send us a sample of 3 songs. The band was formed back on 2009 in Athens (Greece) and from these songs, somebody would say that, their music is a mixture of hard rock (Deep Purple style) with some heavy elements (Metallica influenced), among others.
\r\nThe result isn’t something that will blow your mind, the exact opposite, I would say. During the listening sessions of this sample, I couldn’t find anything enough satisfying that would make me listen to it again. The compositions have an average last of 3 minutes, the overall sound and production are very “poor” and you can listen to (even) recording mistakes!!!The songs seem to be recorded without the use of a metronome (somebody notices tempo ups and downs, especially in track “Eternal Warrior”, which reminds the riff of “Master Of Puppets”, played off-time)! The performance of the band is mediocre (especially their drummer’s), in general, reminding of a school band at times, including maturity of compositions, solos etc. The only positive thing I could mention in these samples, is that the choruses are a little bit catchy and that the singer are of higher standards than the band and with some more effort and improvent, could become a decent one.
\r\nTo be honest, I would like to have listened to the whole release and not just a part of it, in order to be more fair. As a result of that I will just present, avoiding to place rating about "Past Mistakes" and I hope their next piece of work will be more professional and more complete.
