FANTASY OPUS - BEYOND ETERNITY

FANTASY OPUS - BEYOND ETERNITY

Beyond Eternity is the debut album of the Portuguese band Fantasy Opus and it’s exactly what someone expects by reading the band name or the track titles: Pureblood power metal.

\r\nI didn’t have to listen to the album more than once to make a solid conclusion. It is shinny, well produced and professional work, though has nothing new to offer to the power metal scene. Fantasy Opus used the traditional recipe of “In your face intro, fast and epic themes, a ballad somewhere in the middle and the long, complicated song in the end. Anyway it would be unfair to judge the album solely on the fact that it’s not that original, besides everyone will agree that there’s no immaculate conception nowadays. Surely you might say while listening to it “Hey, that reminds me of Helloween” or “That sounds a bit like Stratovarius” (or Edguy, Rhapsody, Kamelot etc, etc) but the album really deserves a chance, especially if you are a war epic power metal fan. What is more those guys showed respect and honesty towards the genre they enjoy playing.
