Infravision - This Epileptic Serenity

Infravision - This Epileptic Serenity

This is the first release by the Greeks, Infravision via Secret Port Records. While I ve been reading the promo cd’s promo leaflet, my eye caught that in the section that refer similar bands , there is the name “In Flames” something that made me believe that this album is going to be another trendy death metal kind of Shit.
\r\nI have to admit that I put the cd on the tray having the fear of rejecting the “This Epileptic Serenity” at once. But thankfully at first I found my self surprised by the awesome intro and while the tracks went by I realize that these guys have nothing to do with in flames. The first bands that popped in my mind were Fear Factory (“Demanufacture” era, due too the great guitar sound), and bands like Nocturnus and Cynic.
\r\nInfravision seems that had some really quality ideas and transformed them greatly into music. Many keyboards on the album that on the most of the tracks sound really spacey (hence the Nocturnus reference), and many effects, voice coders on vocals, and a plethora of other effects in general. In specific parts reminds me the old Edge of Sanity days.
\r\nIn general the album needs to be listened many times to be understand, due too the complexity of the compositions and the plenty effects, like samples, and the pretty technical playing habbits. My personal belief is that “Epileptic Serenity”  is a worth – buying album by all means, and I would tried to categorize this one as Progressive Death metal, my only observation is that the clean vocals needs to be more worked, in other ways I m sure that after a period of ten years we will refer to this album as one of the greek metal albums ever made.
\r\nKeep it up Infravision.!!!
