MYSTIC PROPHECY - RAVENLORD
MYSTIC PROPHECY - RAVENLORD
\r\nRavenLord is the 7th full length album for Mystic Prophecy and it is most definitely thw most mature piece of work they’ve presented so far. Before I listen to their new album I thought FireAngel of 2009 was the peak of Mystic Prophecy but after listening to Ravenlord for one time was enough to give me second thoughts.
\r\n
\r\nThe pleasant and refreshing thing about Ravenlord is that it’s not based on two catchy singles, a few mediocre and some totally indifferent songs just to fill the tracklisting necessary for an album release. On the contrary the album is consisted of 12 equally good songs within which it’s difficult to decide which one is best. The latest Mystic Prophecy, in comparison with the band’s previous releases, it is a variety of compositions, and the songs don’t share a common pattern on which the music is based. In Raven lord there are mid tempo songs, furious songs with riffs on the verge of thrash, in particular in the song Damned Tonight the riffs are as great a turbulence as Judas Priest of the Painkiller era! The surprise of the album iw an extremely successful cover on Ozzy’s Miracle Man.

\r\nAt this point we have to make a special reference to Dimitris Liapakis vocal lines which sound more excellent than ever. His voice is of great quality in all the songs but even more in the cover of Miracle Man which is covered immaculately. I had the chance to listen to two different versions of the cover one in which he moves on the vocal lines of Ozzy and a second one with his own approach. Both versions sound great and I think it best they were both included on the release.
\r\n
\r\nIn total, Ravenlord is a well played album with inspired compositions and I would characterize it full and I would suggest if nothing more listen to it! It will only take on listen to convince you of it’s quality, the quality of a serious, mature, honest release. The style of MysticProphecy, as I am well aware isn’t a trendy one amongst the fans of the metal scene like many other bands whose music is very attractive to the fans but they won’t make it a priority when they go on to buying the album. What I have to say about Mystic Prophecy’s RavenLord is that such complete albums don’t get released often, not even by first class bands so when you go on to buying… think it over…\r\n
