Sons of Seasons - Gods Of Vermin

Sons of Seasons - Gods Of Vermin

\r\nThe label on the cd, “Gods of Vermin”, is really far away from being accurate. Dark symphonic is only one side of it. Symphonic yes, but based on clear Prog/Power formulas, despite of the dark mood that features the songs, probably due to the dramatic and theatrical elements that cover the album and of course the atmosphere coming from them.
\r\nIt’s the debut album of Oliver Palotai ‘s personal band (KAMELOT, DORO, BLAZE) who is also responsible for the compositions, playing all guitars and keyboards in the album. The main weight is on the keys of course, while there’s so much KAMELOT-ic aura in the songs that you might begin to miss Khan on some spots. There are also some SAVATAGE-like passages as well as elements that remind of the symphonic side of RAGE. Henning Basse (METALIUM, FIREWIND) is on the vocals and Simone Simons’ with her sweet voice finishes the whole picture.
\r\nSometimes, having well known names in the line up doesn’t necessarily imply that the album will be good. So, I have one more reason to feel great while listening to “Gods of Vermin” as it doesn’t belong to the case mentioned above. It would be so disappointing for me as Palotai is one of my favorite keyboard players.  On the contrary the album is already in my list with the best releases of the last months.\r\n
