Thanever - Domina’s Nightmare

\r\nThings are not always what they seem; when I saw the cover of the cd I thought that I was going to listen to some goth or doom metal band. I couldn’t imagine that actually I was dealing with a Hard Rock band! Well, after listening to the first song, while looking thoroughly at the artwork at the same time, I got the picture. Both the songs and the whole artwork are totally 80’s. The production, the mixing, the compositions, the feeling…everything feels as if we are in a time machine.
\r\nThanever is a greek band which approaches the Hard Rock music scene with a pretty “Heavy” mood. Generally there are some good ideas, but they should have worked a bit more on the compositions in my opinion. Everything is so simplified and “flat” that it feels as if you are listening to the same thing from the beginning till the last song. For instance, they have very good riffs. But they don’t take advantage of it as the rhythmic guitar parts are not powerful enough to back up for them.
\r\nI hope that the next album will be much better as there is a good background here. \r\n
