Dark Fortress @ Underworld Club

When I heard Dark Fortress for the very first time, I didn’t believe that I would watch them one day in a live appearance in my country and also with a so reasonable price in the ticket (for European standards, because for Greek I do not remember when it was the last time that I gave less than 20 Euros in order to I see a concert with foreign headliners).

\r\nI reached in the venue at 19:30 and the doors for the public opened at 20:00. The attendance of crowd initially was limited, something which seemed to be absolutely reasonable, due to the fact that the big crowd came as long as the time of Dark Fortress’s appearance approached.

\r\nThe night opened with The Eternal Suffering when the clock showed 21:00. The band got in a very beautiful way in Black Metal paths. Sharp sound that suited them! Having as basic influence Dissection they presented tracks which seemed to have been taken from Storm Of The Light’ s Bane but with a more personal approach. What they had to make, was to "get high" the crowd that had been already there and they did it very well, presenting us tracks from their debut album but also from their new EP, Apognosis and then they left us. We must also mention that the sound could be better.

\r\nThen in the stage came out Dark Vision. Very good band with frontman Yannis (rem3dy aRt design) give his best on stage, with also a unique sense of humor during all of their set. It was difficult for me to hear vocals well, because they were covered from drums. The guitar was also heard in great depth. In any case it’s a pity, because I believe that their sound betrayed them. After approximately 25 - 30 minutes and having already offered us an enough
\r\nsatisfying dose of Black Metal, it was time for them to leave the stage, being pleased from their performance.

\r\nThe time was 22:15 when in the scene appeared Mortal Torment. I want to declare to be an admirer of the band.! Death Metal with female vocals that destroys everything in their passage. Even if also here the sound was not best they accomplished to make the crowd of Underworld to applaud them, while most of them showed their admiration for Rita’s vocals. The band presented tracks from their Demo, such as Decomposision In Vomit and Mortal
\r\nTorment while it also played some new which will be included in their forthcoming debut album. For one more time, the band selected the very classic and beloved Grotesque Impalement of Dying Fetus as a cover and with Vasilis, who occasionally makes some Black vocals for Mortal Torment, they managed to arise the crowd and prepared them for the rest! We wait to see them again in 25th of May with Aborted and Vulnus in the same venue!\r\n

\r\nThe time had come and it was 23:10 when Dark Fortress were ready to go up on the stage. The crowd was big and the venue was almost full. Dark Fortress in a full "black" set played more than an hour and left audience over-satisfied. With new singer, named Morean, after Azathoth is no longer in the band, the Germans made their appearance in the scene with a track from their new album (Eidolon) that is named No Longer Human. The reactions of the crowd were great and it was obvious that the band was fascinated from the Greek fans. The sound had certain problems which however later were improved, but in general they were not of the strong points. They continued with many tracks taken from almost their entire discography, which you will find with below. What we saw the night of 6th April, was a tied up and mature band, which knows how to be presented on stage, something that is not accidental after the group exists from 1994. After Edge Of Night the singer of the band called Vasilis from Mortal Torment on stage, in order to sing together Catawomb through their previous album, Seance. Morean said with a humorous way that specific guy, would have taken his place in the band, when they were searching singer was on of the choices and this was the reason of why he sang together with them. As in whole the duration of the concert, thus and in Catawomb, there were no errors and problems and the concert continued regularly. Dark Fortress played for almost one and a half hour and
\r\nin combination with the very cheap ticket, they offered us a very beautiful evening which I will personally remember for a long time.\r\n
