Monuments

\r\nTrue diamonds are forever. 22 whole years after the release of the homonymous debut album of CRIMSON GLORY still shines as it did back then when it made even the most demanding "collectors" bow down to its inrivalled lucidity and dazzling glow. \r\n

\r\nOne of many things I like about HEAVY METAL is the satisfaction you get when you discover a new band you never heard of before and even more so when you really enjoy their music so much that you can rate their album as a "monument".\r\n

\r\nWhen I’m in the car, stuck in one on of the endless traffic jams of Athens, I want to listen something that will make feel better, something stong and simple, without exagerations and complicated compositions, in order not to take a pill for the headache, a very good choice would be the Dutch VENGEANCE. The strong, well-played Hard n’ Heavy is like a medicine for me in these dificult situations, and espescially their debut homonymus album, which i put down as one of the best samples of this genre. \r\n

\r\nIt’s 1981 in Australia and TAIPAN’s omonymous EP is out. The impressive thing and the reason I chose to make a monument out of this particular album is that although TAIPAN dwell down under, on the other coast of the Atlantic ocean, they play classic NWOBHM!!!!\r\n

\r\nThe Swiss, legendary Messiah unfortunately never managed to gain the popularity they deserved, Personally I consider them as one of the important and underrated bands of the genre. Their first release was the LP   “Hymn to Abramelin” back in 1986 and it was a groundbreaking thrash metal debut, the second LP “Extreme Cold Weather” follows next year and although the production is weird, can be considered as one of the thrash metal monuments.

\r\nWelcome to the kingdom of riffs. To the kingdom of EXODUS. To the kingdom of Bonded By Blood. Here where you are going to hear the best guitarist of all times, Rick "strike lightnings" Hunolt and Gary "throw thunders" Holt, playing some of the best and heaviest riffs that you have ever listened to.

\r\nI do believe that the contribution of Pentagram, in the Rock / Metal History from the early 70’s as Macabre till today can’t be doubted by none as well as the quality of their each one release cant be doubted too. Pentagram is the band that along with Black Sabbath established the Heavy Doom scene.\r\n

\r\nIn mid of 80’s there was a small, independent French company, called Black Dragon Records, which had in their roster a lot of groups, mainly from America, which belonged to the Epic- Power Metal genre. Some of them were MANILA ROAD, SAVAGE GRACE and LIEGE LORD. The last ones released their debut in 1985 entitled Freedom’ s Rise and had made enough fuzz. \r\n
