\r\nAnother rock n’ roll band hailing from Italy, a girl band indeed (except their drummer Michael Reale), tries to impress hard rock audiences. Listening to their debut album a thing that has been mentioned before in Metalzone came up to my mind. Italian bands, although talented and full of attitude, face serious inspiration and creativity problems. This rule is, unfortunately, confirmed in the case of Cherry Lips. Although their music is good, if I wanted to listen to a band of their sound I’d choose No Doubt.\r\n

\r\nIf you haven’t heard of ELIS before, here’s your chance. Sabine Duenser’s fairy-like voice has marked the band’s history, no doubt about that. Unfortunately, she left very soon…

\r\nAfter giving the world the first shock with “Red Album” in 2007, Baroness strike once again with “The Blue Record” and their evil purpose is to finish us off! With a unique sound this band manages to stimulate a person’s emotions with their music whether you are a fan of the genre or not. However, to make things right, these guys simply cannot be put in any genre or kind, they make a genre of themselves.

I am going to quote once again that when we are dealing with a doom metal release from Italy things seems so easy , and most of the times we ‘ re dealing with a very good release.
\r\nThankfully the debut album by Sesta Marconi released via the Italian label Metal On Metal Records wouldn’t be an exception. These Italians made a great mix of the Cathedral and Pentagram sound in a unique outcome of Doom Rock / Metal with audible references to the 70’s but having a more up to date sound.

\r\nDark Sky’s and Nightpride’s ex frontman, Bruno Kraler, along with very talented musicians, is back with the album “War Maniacs”. John Billings ( Lancia /Donna Summer Band) on bass, Bobby Altvater (Affair) on guitars and DominikHuelshorst (Bonfire) on drums, and if you though that Melodic Hard Rock is dead or something, well you will have to reconsider. This album is fresh, inspired and has very good ideas!

\r\nFinally the Seventh Angel sounded his horn not from the endless heavens but from the very depths of hell spitting out haunted melodies entwined in bizarre crawling riffs, followed by demonic choirs. That’s the message that the British “Seventh Angel” bring us with their third album making sure that as long as their doom/death/black last, there will be no rest for all the damned souls out there.

\r\nStarrats play heavy rock n’ roll with metal and punk influences" as the band states and they are completely right. And for those who aren’t aware of the band, Yes! You heard right! Returning with their third full length album after "Rebelution" of 2006, again, combining elements of punk, sleaze and metal Starrats try to make a difference following the well known US recipe of catchy choruses and riffs all gathered in an album filled with energy.

Seriously now, what’s wrong with the Italian scene? They seem to have abandoned their well-known power metal genre and began to play classic heavy metal, feeling a bit nostalgic about this music’s past. Ok there are some very decent albums like that of “Frozen Tears” that I reviewed a few days ago, but enough’s enough.

\r\nIt’s like a devastating earthquake or more like a bomber flying over leveling the place with a hail of bullets. I can’t think of something more appropriate to describe what I’ve just listened to. Well some of you might question, what exactly is this kind of music described as a “hail of bullets”?
