Sweden… a special country concerning many things, one of these of course is Sweden’s music scene. This scene gave born to bands cornerstones of Heavy Metal such as Heavy Load, Candlemass, Count Raven, etc but also to bands that today play the music of yesterday i.e. In Solitude, Portrait and the the music of the day before yesterday like Witchcraft, Burning Saviours (RIP). So from one of the most important music scene we have the first album of S:t Erik.
Tales Of Dark hails from Serbia and this is their second release, entitled “Perdition Calls” and believe me they do teach to many bands out there how to play Doom / Goth metal influenced by the masters of the genre , but also adding some of their own personality in the outcome!
\r\nThe most of the album sounds monolithic, with some “dreamy” parts mostly due too Jovana’s female vocals and some acoustic parts in the compositions.
“Broken Leaf” is the title of the debut album by the Belgian outfit, My Lament. By the first listening of the album I got the feeling that this must be a long lost album made by My Dying Bride between the “Turn Loose The Swans” and “The Angel And The Dark River” era. That was of course my first thought, after taking a closer listening to the album things became clearer in my mind.
S.C.A.L.P. is a Russian based outfit that it’s music can be described as doom / death / goth metal, so don’t you take them for the other Lengendary Russian outfit, SCALD, because you will let yourself down.
German Savage Circus is the band formed by former Blind Guardian drummer Thomen Stauch, who wanted to revive the good old sound he enjoyed playing. And he did it: The first Savage Circus album “Dreamland Manor” is like listening to Blind Guardian during the Somewhere far beyond time. Well now he also abandoned his second band for personal reasons (Health? Fatigue? Only he knows)

Beyond Eternity is the debut album of the Portuguese band Fantasy Opus and it’s exactly what someone expects by reading the band name or the track titles: Pureblood power metal.
