\r\nSerenity is an Austrian band formed in January 2001 and after a change of the line-up in March 2004 (still the same since),dedicated to the genre of Symphonic Power Metal. Having released "Starseed V.R." (demo) - "Engraved Within"(demo) and "Words Untold & Dreams Unlived" (self released cd) and having performed with famous acts (DIO,KAMELOT, MORGANA LEFAY, SACRED STEEL), the time seemed right for their first release, under a label and so "Fallen Sanctuary" was born.
\r\nAnother band, not so well known, makes its appearance, with the release of its first album under the name ‘’Aesir’’. The 8 songs of the album combine progressive with power metal but in my opinion the result is quite cold. Not even one song can be characterized as at least good, maybe with the exception of ‘’Alma Pirata’’ and ‘’Aesir’’ and the solos of each song, that somehow manage to catch your attention.
Arkona is a Russia based outfit of Napalm Records, and can you guess their musical style? Pagan / Folk Metal of course!!!. I wonder how can someone define folk metal? Just putting a couple of multiple vocal lines, and a bunch of folk instruments? Anyway back to the album.
The Austrian based outfit, Dornenreich is a fact that during the years of its existence, they had change musical forms from melodic black metal to more, acoustic sounds. Today with their sixth full length album, “In Luft Geritzt” the band went fully acoustic.
\r\nEven though Trigger The Bloodshed have only been around for a yeat they have managed to create a noticeable buzz around them. Just by a quick glimpse on their Myspace page you will see what I mean. Recently they signed a contract with Metal Blade Records. However the release in question is in Rising Records. Purgation is the debut album of the band and it has been the reason they have become known in the extreme scene by giving quite a few good live concerts.
\r\nJamming, a good word and accurate enough for the case of Jam Pain Society. Funk Rhythm section, guitars in Rock direction which often cross Heavy paths and vocals that in my opinion is the highlight of the whole thing, and is something between Funk and Rock/Heavy. The frontwoman of the band claims to have influences from classical names of the scene such as Black Sabbath, Dio and Judas Priest, however due to the band’s musical style she doesn’t limit her voice in classical style that much.
Having already been a fan of Fuck The Facts, I just could not believe in my ears! This album is so great that it became an instant classic! A grind holocaust in the brain! Absolutely much more better than its predecessors Disgorge Mexico is here to take the throne away from any fake wannabe and smash it in pieces. Great and strong guitars , the way they should be, a bombing drummer and outbreaks of sadness through some wonderful bitter melodies in between.
By listening to the vocals in the very first track, the GODS dredg came into my mind! There wasn’t anything more I could ask for, “Lower Definition” had my full attention!
