\r\nDuring the last months we received many cds coming from this musical scene and unfortunately the majority of them was nothing new or interesting. The same riffs, uninspired tracks and in a few words just posing, nothing more. However things are far different here. Even though the Cd is constituted only by 4 songs which is a small sample, after listening to them for many times I think that these guys have no reason to be jealous of international band names and this is no exaggeration. They are young in the scene, but they have a lot of attitude.

\r\nI must admit that I hadn’t listened to any of Anima’s former material. They reminded me a lot of The Black Dahlia Murder, Job For A Cowboy and other new death-grindcore  bands. ”The Daily Grind” consists of 9 powerful tracks of metallic Deathcore and samples of Scandinavian Black Metal .It sounds as a  great combination, but the sound is so triggered that seems to be a little bit “plastic”. Certainly the guys have skills, and as they are newcomers to the scene ( formed in 2005) we should wait more from them…or should I say much more?

\r\nThis is actually a re-recording of Overcast’s older material. After 1998 , when Overcast disbanded its members continued in Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage and others in the metalcore universe.” Reborn to kill again” is just what you imagine; metalcore with touches of heavy thrash, just like the members’ following bands. Considering that these sounds came out in the early 90’s , i could not but say that it is innovative, but it certainly is not my cup of cake.

\r\nFalchion is Finish melodic death/Viking metal band featuring Korpiklaani members Juno Kauppinen (vocals, guitar) and Matti Johansson (drums) formed back in 2002. The rest of the line up – changed completely in 2006 - is completed by Miikka Tulimaki on the guitar and Janne Kielinen on the bass. Chronicles Of The Dead is their second album, the first one after their freshly signed record deal with Massacre records. Having received very good feedback even from their debut album Legacy Of Heathens back in 2005 they are now ready to present a new more mature album.

\r\nAs Wikipedia informs us, Sevdah is a traditional type of folk music with roots in Bosnia, while its full name is Sevdalinka. Its main feature is the slow or moderate tempo and rich harmony, which leaves a melancholic feeling to the listener. Emir Hot is a young musician that comes from Bosnia and having dedicate his life in order to it achieve his musical goals, he joins forces with John West and Mike Terrana and he presents to us a Power Metal/Neoclassical Metal album with Speed guitar riffing.

The Idiom “Better Late Than Never” seems to fit perfectly in this case. The reason is that despite the fact that this 12’’ has been released on 14 February 2008, I only managed to have my copy, a couple of days ago (thanks to E –Bay once again). But since many of us seems to dig the doom metal scene, I feel that despite the fact that this review is late, would be useful to some readers.

\r\nI remember that it was some time ago when I was first introduced to the band and a discussion that I had with a friend about them was enough for me to look for material of theirs. A few years later, I see that they seem to take one step at the time, through very good albums, actually 6 so far if I am not mistaken (including the new one), however they remain hidden somewhere in what is called Underground scene. And that in my opinion is so wrong for them.

\r\nThis is the third full length release, after “The Awakening” (2004) and “Suffer No Guilt” (2006) efforts by the US (Indianapolis) based Doom metal outfit, entitled “Conqueror”. Of course during these years except the full length releases, Gates Of Slumber counts many Split 7’’, Split CD’s, EP’s and of course a great collection (“Villain Villain” 2007) with some alternative versions, demo versions and cover songs (Saint Vitus, Manilla Road)

Signum Regis is a band founded by the bass player and songwriter Ronnie Konig in 2007, surving the purpose of composing different music than his regular band, used to play. Hiring one of the most gifted vocalists (Goran Edman), who has worked with guitar heroes such as John Norum (Total Control) and  Yngwie J. Malmsteen (Eclipse - Fire and Ice) among others, has turned to be a very inspired idea for the whole efford.
