At Last!!! The third release by the Irish Folk Metal outfit Waylander lays in the CD player tray. The Celtic / Folk legends, the band that supported this musical movement during a dark period and never got the recognition they deserved, managed to release their 3rd album in a period of 10 years. The album “Honour Amongst Chaos” is the new masterpiece by the Celts. The album consists of clear and Brutal Vocals, up tempo vibes, double kicks, amazing guitar parts and of course the characteristic folklore passages in the way only Waylander could provide us.
\r\nFemale fronted\r\nHydrogyn comes from the U.S.\r\nand their main purpose is probably to become a replica of Lacuna Coil. The good\r\nthing for them is that with this album, “Deadly Passions” they did it. It took\r\nmany tracks for me to realize that the album I’m listening to is not Lacuna\r\nCoil. Mediocre song writing abilities in that one, although the production is\r\nvery good. The main fact unfortunately is that this album is a “pop” uninspired\r\nalbum that really caused me a terrible boredom.
\r\nNinth album for the Swedish deathsters Unleashed, which I think that they represent the scene widely known as Swedish Death Metal in a very respectful way. Ripping guitar riffs, solos sometimes escape from the brutality of the general musical background, and that travel you to melodic paths, yet still chaotic ones, and completely bang your head rhythm section, with intelligent changes, powerful and furious vocal parts. But what I really like is in bridging between solos and the other parts, and I mention the reason why above. Awesome..
\r\nChurch And State is a classic output that initially saw the light of day in 1987 from the Chicago-based band Iron Cross. When this record was released everyone that were into the extreme sound at the time and lived in Chicago, didn’t miss this classic vinyl but as the time passed by, this record has been forgotten and never really knew the success it deserved. After 21 years, the band decides to release Church And State once again, this time on CD with 3 bonus tracks and with a better sound since it is remastered.

\r\nGermans Nektra seem to be a little bit tangled with their influences and their hearings in general. Packetize (d) is their new album with what they try to put in order everything that they were listening to all those years, but unfortunately the result isn’t all that positive. Their music cannot be tagged in one specific form since there are influences from many and different styles and beyond this, it doesn’t even have something personnel that will make the band to be distinguished.
\r\nA very good mixture of Thrash and Death, in the right proportion that maintains elements from both and combines them in a nice way. But…. While on one hand the tracks are intense, they have rage, passion, they come out aggressively, on the other hand, compositions-wise they do not have this little something so make them different enough. In other words, this is not something we haven’t heard before. The production is in a good level and it elects the brutal feeling that the band wants to show.
