Taking this cd for a review, I just thought :"Lets give it a spin in the car’s player on the way to work", nothing unusual so far. As soon as the first track "Breaking my heart again" was over, I thought "Well great song, but that’s common for an opening one, great melodies,great chorus and Whitesnake meets Talisman style". But, as soon as "Hometown calling" was over, with its catchy refrain and I moved on to "To mend a broken heart" I was sure that this release, had something special to offer.
\r\n Thanatoschizo is a metal group from Portugal founded in late 1997. Delivering a sound between progressive death metal, doom metal, progressive rock, atmospheric and electronic music, free-jazz, Middle Eastern music plus a close connection near enough to modern gothic metal, "Zoom Code" gets really hard to be categorized.
\r\nI believe that there was a great amount of expectation for this release by many of us. Yngwie Malmsteen joined forces with Tim Owens, which is something that I consider to be one the most important facts of the year. Despite the fact that I had some doubts about this collaboration, after the hearing of “Perpetual Flame”, Yngwie made me reconsider
\r\nFemale line up , ladies in metal kinda thing, in a challenging album, exactly for this particular reason, if not for anything else, as these girls do not follow the most usual path which is either being ethereal and all and singing high pitched vocals, or absolute “brutality”. Yes, their music may be based on these forms, however it doesn’t miss a thing of the elegance of these ladies. How come? Well, I was curious as well in the beginning while seeing the back cover of the cd and checking their webpage and listening to the tracks at the same time.
Well, in this case the things are so simple, when the ultimate masters of Epic Doom Metal releasing some new material, I only have to listen to it again and again and again…
\r\n Now I have this big question about this promo that comes with much delay for a review since it was a 2004’s release and which it was re-released in 2007 only in vinyl format and in particular from what I saw in limited copies. While I must also add that not too way back in 2008 they released their last and third full length album "Iivakivi".
\r\n The Italians Demetra Sine Die was founded in 2003 by Marco Paddeu (guitar/vocals) and Marcello Fattore (drums) and they play what they describe as ’alternative dark metal’. You can just imagine some Tool, Katatonia, Porcupine Tree and Anathema influences all blended together and to picture their colored musical painting.
Holy Martyr is an Italian band formed back in the mid nineties and took its final form in 2002. Their third attempt which was an EP , gained the interest of DragonHeart Records, which offered the band a contract, to release its first full length album, "Still At War". "Hellenic Warrior Spirit" is their second cd, which as the title indicates, is based upon Greek history and to be more specific, upon "The Battle at Termopyles". Their music’s influence is mainly based on N.W.O.B.H.M.
